Editor’s note: all those who take over the Instagram account from January until the end of May 2020 will be eligible for one of three Unusual Efforts merchandise prizes!
Hey #Effortistas—do you love sharing your soccer/football/fútbol/Fußball/etc. matchday experiences on social media?
Well, we’d love for you to do this for the Unusual Efforts Instagram account!
We let editor-in-chief Kirsten Schlewitz take the reigns for her first Portland Thorns game to provide a few examples. You might take photos of the stadium, the action, the fans … whatever strikes your fancy. Kirsten’s pretty new at the Instagram Stories function, but we’re confident you know the ways you can dress up (or dress down) your photos so to really bring others into the action.
And, of course, we’d love it if you add to our feed with one particularly gripping photo (or two, or three) that sums up your experience. We want to better share how women and non-binary persons experience match days across the globe—but we need your help, and your eye behind the lens, to do so!
Don’t feel limited by league, division, or location. We’d love it all, from pub league games to top international tournaments. Or maybe you’re not able to get to a match, but you want to share how your group of friends gets together to celebrate the sport. Or you’d like to spotlight a community event your local team is organizing. If it’s related to soccer, we’d love for you to take over the Unusual Efforts Instagram for the day!
If you’re interested, hit us up on Twitter @unusualefforts, email inquiry [at] unusualefforts.com, or (obviously) you can send us a message through Instagram.
(And, of course, you can also pitch stories or let us know why you should be on the brand-new Unusual Ef’pod!)
